Who is Skipper Mike

Skipper Mike has been around boats since a young boy.  He has privately built, raced speedsters, cruised, fished and sailed. How did he get the name "Skipper Mike"?  As a young boy, his summer job given to him by his father at the yacht yard, was collecting rent and maintaining the docks.  The scuttlebutt that was hailed among the boat owners was always "here comes Skipper Mike to collect the rent".  One morning a boat slip renter told him he was just leaving for diesel and would soon return. It did not occur. That hot balmy summer evening, when the sun was starting to go down, his father told him that for that mistake he'd be having supper outside for the rest of the summer and not with the family. But something happened.  In that little separation from the family and with the magic of the evening he saw wondrous things - fish and turtle heads popping out of the water, gulls and sea eagles making their final flights, sounds of the water gently hitting the boat hulls, the smells of boat owners cooking their dinner and sounds of boat owners and friends in laughter and enjoyment.

A month and a half later his friends all knew of what happened and he spread the word that if anybody would tip him where the boat was he would give them twenty dollars on the spot.  One thing great about the yachting community, everyone gossips and talks on current events and happenings.  His friend Floyd who was the same age as Skipper Mike gave him a holler on the phone and told him to hustle up to his father's marina.  The scurvy dog who he met with Skipper Mike and knew was staying with his boat for the weekend.  Skipper Mike pondered what to do.  He was in his teens and the man was big and thirty-eight year old and wrestled on the side to make ends meet.  Skipper Mike's uncle once told him that if he ever came across this barnacle to go speak to this friend who was a police chief. He walked out of the yacht yard and as fate would be he saw the patrol car rounding the corner.  He talked to the chief all the time about yachting because the chief kept his wood boat in bristol shape and Skipper Mike helped him get it ready for the 4th of July weekend. The chief told him to quickly get in the front seat and Skipper Mike remembers the chief telling him "lets go get that scurvy pirate together and when you get the money you will finally be allowed in the house for supper.

I remember to this day gathering up all my energy going right up to his face, showing him the contract. He argued for a moment then he saw the police chief behind me and changed his tune.  He went in his wallet gave me the money. I signed the invoice and the word spread that Skipper Mike got the money from the scurvy pirate and from that day forward I was called Skipper Mike.  No one ever skipped on the rent again.  At this point I was accustomed to having my dinner outside, and only on occasion I went in my family home for dinner.  There is nothing like watching the sunset and the fish and the birds getting settled for the evening.  This a short true story of what goes on in yacht yards and marinas around the world.

If you have a story from your country and your yacht yard and marina please send it with your ok, we will ready it and if it is applicable we will contact you and tell you that we have a desire to publish it on this free press.

Other than yachting, Skipper Mike has worked in the media and was the Bureau Chief for the State of Florida for Show Business Newspaper, a publication that was based in New York City. He interviewed major celebrities and even placed George Burns for his birthday and others on CNN News and other news services, made copy and still photographs for print.

One of these paragraphs is the formula for your appearance on Yachting World TV:

1. Yacht manufacturers, Captains, and all nautical entrepreneurs in the marine industry sometimes have a story to tell.

2.  Authors, musicians, artists, all will forward by e-mail or fax two (2) vital questions they want Skipper Mike to ask them.   All answers will be no longer than one (1) minute each, and be automatic, quick and a happy response.  Interviews will be four (4) minutes.  The 30 seconds extra will be broken down in three areas, 10 second open, 10 second middle and a 10 second close.  That's four and a half minutes total.   All authors forward to the address below as part of your public relations complimentary & free, a copy of your book and on the inside cover please write To Skipper Mike, K-9 & Mojo the Cat...All the best with the author signing.  Skipper Mike will definitely read your book. The time code is 3 minutes unless music is added which would then be another half a minute.  Time code 3 1/2 minutes.

2.  Artists & Models.  The same two (2) questions as stated above will apply,   Photos or DVD showing work will be made ready during editing.  America has a fascination with the model portfolio that they carry.   When Skipper Mike did his television show in New York City, many were  fascinated by the photos fresh out of the book itself which also included fascinating stories of the photographers, agents, managers and art directors, in exotic locations,  that make up the world of the models, and in their own words finding how the beautiful photo or video is the spectacular vista created from dedicated professionalism for all to enjoy during the interview.  Time code is the same number as the above paragraph.

3.  Only for the radio show the interview is on the phone, Skipper Mike will forward the questions in the same manner as being on camera.  A photograph of the artist will appear on the web radio show.  The timing code goes as follows:  He will field the question to you for 10 seconds, you answer the question in 60 seconds, Skipper Mike comments back to you for another 10 seconds,  giving you another 30 seconds to talk, and Skipper Mike closes out your segment with 10 seconds saying "we all love hearing from you".   The timing code is 2 minutes.

4. On occasions when an interview on the yacht is not possible, a broadcast camera will go on the field and as usual all is pre-scripted with the question and releases signed beforehand.  Skipper Mike is not in the field he is in the stateroom on the yacht.  The segment starts with a ringing sound telling all there is a message coming through on the screen.  The camera flashes to Skipper Mike giving the 10 second question then views the screen.   The person or participants have 2 1/2 minutes to answer.  Skipper Mike comments for 10 seconds cueing the person or participants they have 30 seconds more.  Skipper Mike closes out the segment with 10 more seconds. Time code 3 1/2 minutes.

5.  Musicians and authors.  We will hyperlink to your website.  On the Yachting World TV, your music will be playing in the background of the ongoing interview.  For radio and TV broadcast in different markets they will hear a sampling of your music playing during the interview given to South FLA Radio & TV as a courtesy for your public relations.  This is a standard procedure.

For radio broadcast and television broadcast, music and talk will be formatted in real time.  Your CD will be playing on the yacht as you talk.  Yachting World TV, Inc., and South FLA Radio & TV, Inc. bear no responsibility for icons and e-commerce transactions.  All parties appear on Yachting World TV, Inc., and South FLA Radio & TV, Inc. have appeared and communicated as entertainment only and have signed a non-payment general release freeing Yachting World TV, Inc., and South FLA Radio & TV, Inc. from any and all responsibilities.  Also, before embarking on the yacht, all parties have signed a waiver release to Yachting World TV, Inc. and/or South FLA Radio & TV, Inc.

Yachts will always be docked during the time you are on the Show.

For commercial sponsors rates will be privately discussed.

Lunch or dinner invitation with Skipper Mike security will be arranged.   Skipper Mike's consultation is on his free time because he is interested in hearing about your enterprise.  Skipper Mike loves to surround himself with those who love pets.  That's not a pre-requisite for the Show but it adds to the glow.

These are the on-going questions that we keep getting asked.  That's why this performance cue has been created to make your appearance and special time on the show a pleasure and a happy memory.  Forwarding more career guidance read Artists Representation.

Created for global audiences "Yachting World TV" will be viewed on the web and iPhone.

Thank you for reading this most important information.  Best wishes from Skipper Mike.  Communication Officer - CD, spokesperson for Skipper Mike.

Skipper Mike was most happy to be asked to participate in the 2008 Delray Film Festival.  With camera in hand he personally produced and documented the magnificent party that was held at DaDa's Restaurant in Delray Beach, FL.  A multitude of filmmakers networked and toasted Dr. Michael Posner for his luminary guidance in giving them an opportunity to show their works, some in their beginnings and others well seasoned and professional in the industry. Skipper Mike edited a 24 minute golden glow energy DVD and presented it to Dr. Michael Posner at the close of the Festival and signified on the DVD that all rights from the DVD are the property of the Delray Film Festival 2008.

Antonio Baiocco debuted his first cinematographic feature in 1993 entitled Sulle Ali Della Follia, which won the hearts of the French audience by winning a prize at The Italian Film Festival of Bastia. Passage to Paradise (Passagio per il Paradiso) is his second work, which features an exceptional cast including Julie Harris and Tcheky Karyo. This film was an Italian-French-English co-production in which David Bowie participated and Pat Metheney composed the soundtrack. The film was awarded at the Montreal International Film Festival and was also presented at The International Film Festival in Fort Lauderdale.

The Cloth Merchant is a romantic adventure which tells the story of Marco and Luisa, two young Italians, who arrive in an abandoned village in the south of Morocco to find a medallion that belonged to a young Arab woman in the 1930s. Through Marco and Luisa the story of a textile merchant Alessandro unfolds. During one of his trips to Morocco, Alessandro meets Najiba and falls in love; his attraction towards her and her beauty is overwhelming, and they embark on a secret and tormented love affair. Thanks to an ancient legend they become united for all eternity. The movie will be officially released in Italy in 2009 and plans to follow its release in America in the same year.

A monumental book to read.  The Salad Days by Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.  An American Prince of Wales, born into a distinguished circle of movie greats, he became a Prince of the Silver Screen, a legend of Hollywood's "Golden Age".  His glittering lifestyle has taken him into the world of privilege and power and many leading ladies......Crawford, Dietrich to Hepburn (to mention a few).  In the Salad Days, Fairbanks paints a self-portrait that shines with wit, warmth, candor and charm, and a re-creation of a time and place that will never be seen again.  Staring in 75 motion pictures and producing others, he has gathered international awards in the arts and diplomacy, as well as combat citations.  When Skipper Mike met Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. for his interview in Palm Beach it was a spectacular day to be remembered.

A LICENSE TO STEAL

Some time ago, Skipper Mike had a rare and wonderful opportunity to speak with Eddie Egan, the real "French Connection" cop and developed in a short time several very entertaining conversations with him on the telephone.  In the In Memory section of "A License to Steal", page 270, Eddie believed long ago that his father's story needed to be told to be truly appreciated.  Mr. Egan was a consummate professional and knew "what is" and somewhere out there in heaven Eddie is smiling knowing that this book is finally in print for all to enjoy.

Former Jewel thief Walter T. Shaw, now retired from the "business" stole millions and spent 11 1/2 years in prison.  His memoir "A License to Steal" discusses his lineage of family crime, his notorious escapades for breaking into bedrooms and stealing more than $70 million from the rich and famous from New York to Florida. Authored by Walter T. Shaw with Mary Jane Robinson, published by Omega Publishing Group, represented by Adrienne C. FREEDOM

“Be a man of principle. Fight for what you believe in. Keep your word. Live with integrity. Be brave. Believe in something bigger than yourself. Serve your country. Teach. Mentor. Give something back to society. Lead from the front. Conquer your fears. Be a good friend. Be humble and be self-confident. Appreciate your friends and family. Be a leader and not a follower. Be valorous on the field of battle. And take responsibility for your actions."
